Cops Patrolling Quartzsite and Salome to Bust People for Criminal Speeding

Picture a nice sunny day in Arizona, driving from San Diego, enjoying your music then all of a sudden, you see red and blue lights in your rearview mirror.

You then look down at your speedometer and realize you may have been going too fast. It’s easy to do, trust me, I do it all the time. Arizona, however, has enacted ridiculous speeding laws that criminalize people who are caught driving more than 85 miles per hour on the highway, or more than 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit. In my humble opinion, which really means nothing, it’s just a cash cow for the courts.

On one hand, I understand if courts are looking for creative revenue sources. On the other hand, I find it unfair that by going 90 miles per hour on an empty highway, a person can be charged with a criminal offense.

Let’s be clear, criminal speeding is a criminal offense which means that if convicted, you will now have a criminal conviction on your record.

Criminal speeding cases are a lot more complicated than simply paying a fine.

Don’t be naïve in thinking that you can simply pay a fine and this whole thing goes away. It may go away in the short term, but having a criminal speeding conviction on your record may haunt you for a very long time. We get this scenario all the time.

Picture this, a person applies for their dream job, but doesn’t get it. They’re thinking, I don’t understand I have the professional experience, I have the education experience, why didn’t I get the job? Then HR tells them they have a criminal conviction their record they didn’t disclose. Then it occurs to them, I completely forgot about that criminal speeding ticket!

Here’s the good news, my law firm can prevent this situation from occurring. Our primary goal is to prevent clients from having criminal convictions on their record.
