Were You Charged With Resisting Arrest?

Matthew Lopez Law aggressively represents clients throughout the state of Arizona who have been charged with resisting arrest. Under Arizona law, a person commits resisting arrest by intentionally or attempting to prevent a police officer from effecting an arrest by:

  • Using or threatening to use physical force against the officer
  • Using any other means creating a substantial risk of causing physical injury to the officer

Resisting arrest is a class 6 felony and can carry up to 1.5 years in prison.

How We Approach Resisting Arrest Cases

Matthew Lopez Law, PLLC, is experienced in investigating and defending resisting arrest charges. In some circumstances, we are able to prove that our clients were not resisting arrest and the charges are merely a misunderstanding. Additionally, there are times when we are able to work closely with prosecutors and judges to reduce the resisting arrest charge to another charge that carries fewer consequences; in some cases, this means reducing the felony resisting arrest charge to a misdemeanor. Because a resisting arrest is a felony, this charge should be taken seriously and handled by an experienced attorney who will fight for your rights.
