I had two hearings in Gila Bend this morning for Excessive Speeding. Gila Bend is one of the biggest speed traps in all of Arizona. A person can be charged with excessive speeding, otherwise known as criminal speeding, if they are traveling more than 20 miles per hour over the posted speed limit or more than 85 miles per hour. Excessive Speeding is a class 3 misdemeanor that carries a maximum penalty of 30 days in jail, $500 fine plus 83% surcharge, and probation. More importantly, this is a criminal conviction that will forever appear on your record.
