Devan Montgomery is a former Public Defender with the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender. She was born and raised in Stoughton, Wisconsin. She earned her Bachelor's in Psychology and graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Wisconsin - Platteville. She then went on to earn her law degree from the University of Wisconsin Law School.
During and after law school Devan gained extensive experience in the legal field working at the Office of Public Affairs Assistant at Marquette Law School, the Legal Assistance to Institutionalized Persons Project ("LAIP") at the University of Wisconsin Law School, and the Maricopa County Office of the Public Defender.
Devan has a passion for working in criminal defense because she understands how mental health and addiction go hand in hand with the criminal justice system. She uses her educational background (psychology and law) to better understand what is driving her clients' behavior in order to competently represent them and achieve the best results. Additionally, throughout undergrad and law school, Devan was a collegiate athlete. The skills she learned from being a student-athlete has carried over into her professional career and has helped shape her into a driven, focused, balanced, consistent, and competitive individual - both in and outside of the courtroom.
